Less known qualities of honey: use of honey as an allergy remedy

The allergy season that begins in February and lasts until August means uncomfortable symptoms for many people such as watery and itchy eyes, sneezing, stomachings, headaches and even breathing difficulties.  In Estonia, however, the season begins in March and the most common allergens are the flowers of the early flowering trees (alder, hazel, birch) , grass (including Timut) and corlyphs (including sagebrush, dandelion).

The cause of the allergy, however, is known to be that the plants are starting to produce pollen and people breathe it in, which in turn causes the symptoms listed above

The honey has one of the lesser-known good features that it helps, among other things, to reduce the symptoms of pollen allergy.

It starts with the fact that because the raw honey (as in most cases the Estonian honey) contains a lot of impersonal pollen grains, a gram of 2000 to 10,000 grains It appears numerically a large quantity but because the grain sizes are in micrometers, the total quantity is actually not high. Just enough, that the human organism can start a successful fight against pollen and take control.

By the way, by these pollen grains, can be controlled the botanical and geographical origin of honey (to check whether it is still the Estonian honey), as well as to check that the honey is still honey, not the sweet processed mass that has nothing to do with honey. The method is based on the overreading and comparatively average results of the pollen grains. It has been observed that in Estonia there is, however, such “Honey” on sale, where the quantity of pollen grains is very low But this is another topic.

So, if you have a runny nose and itchy eyes when the allergy season hits? If that is the case, the local honey may be helpful.

If your body has a slight taste of honey pollen, the person will produce antibodies that take care of the pollen, which means that your body will provide protection against this allergy over time.

The idea is similar to the injections of allergies. In the case of allergic injections, of course, the quantities entering the organism are better dosed, but it is quite possible that a set of pollen grains from a man better matches the “attacking” pollen composition and the person is better prepared for attack.

Studies conducted have revealed that the pollen found in the honey is not broken down during the digestion process and reaches the bloodstream. It appeared that the pollen solution alleviated the symptoms of hay fever and allergy-related asthma in 80% of cases.

It is better to take honey from your local area as this honey contains pollen of local flowers.

Having a little honey every day will create your body’s natural immunity to allergens, which would usually make you less sensitive to allergy symptoms.

Remember that you need to start eating honey two to three months before the allergy season, for example, in November to give the body time to create its immunity.
